The Woundtree Saint carries out the revenge of the hallowed sacrifice after their death.

Description[]
The saint is a giant tree-like structure, which flowers with white crocus.[1] The flowers reflect those that Paige used to lay at the intersection where her mother died.[2]
Behaviour[]
The Tree Saint chants "Tree of Spite" over and over, giving rise to the popular name for the Many Below in the CLS. It impales those around it on its branches as the sacrifice is hallowed.[1]
Context In The Story[]
Esther Grammen[]
Esther Grammen is the first Woundtree Saint. She was a prisoner at Besserail Correctional Facility, who Paige and Dennis visited with the help of her friend, Corvin. She is at first reluctant to hear about their faith, expected to be hallowed to The Wirebitten Child. When she finds out from the Chaplain that she is to be hallowed for the war effort with the Peninsula, she prepares by rereading their hymn.[2] Her saint kills 9 people.[1]
Dennis Duplass[]
Dennis Duplass is the second Woundtree Saint. He sacrifices himself to takedown the Police Captain and his officers, in order to give Paige and Hayward time to escape. Paige sees his saint as they flee and it causes her to relationship to her god to become stronger, turning her into a prophet.[1]
Fight with the Faulknarian Parish of Tide and Flesh[]
Harrier's party, sent by Elgin, were met by a group of the Trawler-man's people looking for the Grand Aquifer. Harrier is killed and sainted, taking out four of the Parish and five of the Children of the Woundtree.[3]
Unconfirmed Fenton Miracle[]
The power plant in Fenton was hit, taking out a fifth of the power grid and half the town - including the prison. It is unconfirmed but highly likely to have been done by rogue followers of the Woundtree.[3]
